MHA Economic Impact

MHA’s turnover grew again in 2025/26, breaking the £2million mark. This will allow us to invest in future infrastructure projects.

61.26k tonnes of salmon harvested and 8.18million smolts shipped y/e March 2026

An average of 55 vessels each month used the Harbour. This includes fishing vessels, ferries, workboats and other commercial vessels.

c.35,600 tonnes of Aquaculture feed shipped in y/e March 26, along with 6,250 tonnes of housing materials, livestock, and various other cargo.

£5.247 million value of seafood was landed in y/e March 2026, generating dues of around 93k.

Ferries sailed to 7 destinations, Skye Eigg, Muck, Rum, Canna, Knoydart and South Uist, carrying around 270k passengers and almost 67,000 vehicles . Disruption to services means this is lower than previous years.

1,051 yachts used the marina, staying for a total of 1,933 nights in 2025, up around 200. We installed 5 new pontoon fingers at the start of the season.

c£7,500 donated to local causes throughout the year, including £1,800 raised at our Marina Fun day, along with practical support through DYW and for Christmas Lights etc.

We lease property around the Harbour to over 20 organisations including MOWI, Scottish Seafarms, Coast Construction Management, Denholms and Mallaig & District Men’s Shed
