Mallaig is the departure port for ferries to Armadale on the Isle Skye, Lochboisdale in South Uist, and the Small Isles of Eigg, Muck, Rum and Canna.

The MV Lochnevis provides a year round service to the Small Isles, departing daily to visit one or more of the islands. The vessel carries passengers, freight and vehicles for the Small Isles, although potential travellers should note that a permit is required from The Highland Council before vehicles can be carried to the Small Isles.

The Lochnevis also services the route between Mallaig and Armadale in the winter months (late October to late March), with two sailings a day, morning and late afternoon.

The service between Mallaig and Lochboisdale operates year round, although winter sailings may operate to and from Oban for periods. There are daily sailings during the summer months, and two sailings on Monday, Thursday and Saturday between April and October.

During the summer timetable there are regular sailings between Mallaig and Armadale, which take between 30 and 45 minutes, depending on the vessel. These sailings are regularly at capacity so advance booking is always advised if travelling with a vehicle.

In the height of the season, there can be up to 25 ferry movements each day.

More information on all these sailings and up to date travel information can be found on the Calmac website.

Please note that, outwith the marshalling lanes, Mallaig Harbour does not have parking for vessels arriving for a ferry journey, and vehicles arriving early may be directed to one of the public car parks nearby.

Western Isles Cruises

Western Isles Cruises, https://westernislescruises.co.uk/, provide a passenger ferry service to the Knoydart peninsula, which departs from the passenger access pontoon closer to the centre of the village. The service runs four times a day Monday to Saturday, and three times a day on Sunday during the summer months, and less frequently throughout the winter months. Western Isles Cruises also run wildlife cruises from the port and can be hired for private charters.
